Overview

Square Mile Sport (SMS) is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all through shared memorable experiences that leave lasting positive social or environmental impact. Through its flagship global corporate event series, the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay, and its uniquely developed Bloomberg Square Mile Virtual Club, as well as the Bloomberg PWR Ride event concept, Square Mile Sport uses the power of exercise and social development to empower individuals, build teams and connect businesses in cities all across the world.

SMS is the owner and operator of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay (BSMR), a global series of 13 events that brings corporate communities on to the streets for an immersive, collaborative, and competitive experience right in the heart of the world’s largest financial districts including London, Frankfurt, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Dubai, Sydney, New York, Tokyo, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, and Mumbai. With over 14,000 participants from 900+ companies each year, our aim is to connect businesses in the most engaging experiences that deliver on our commitment to improving wellbeing and improving local communities.

In 2020, in response to the pandemic, we launched our free-to-access Bloomberg Square Mile Virtual Club (BSMVC), which has close to 6,000 members drawn from over 300 prestigious global companies, primarily in the Financial Services sector. Our aim was to be able to continue offering our community experiences to stay connected, engaged and motivated to be active during the difficult and isolated times caused by the pandemic. Now with over 15 different activity types including running, cycling, yoga and meditation, members can earn points for themselves and their company by undertaking these activities, to move up city and global ranking leader boards, as well as unlock donations to go to a charity partner in their city as part of The Extra Mile charity programme.

In 2022, SMS is also planning to bring to life a unique PWR Ride static-cycling activation across up to nine Bloomberg offices, six Bloomberg Square Mile Relay races and four marquee Bloomberg climate-focused events. The innovative Energym bikes create and capture energy into a battery through the power of human movement. The activations will engage with both Bloomberg employees and their key clients in a memorable and impact driven experience which supports Bloomberg’s wider efforts to tackle climate change from every angle and will run alongside Virtual Club challenges that will encourage members to earn points that will be converted into planting trees in order to re-wild our planet. 

Role Summary 

The Client Services & Communications Executive will form an integral part of the team to assist in the management of the Bloomberg Square Mile Virtual Club through client services, communications, asset design and virtual event operations (virtual challenges, races, private events). The successful candidate will report into the Head of Operations - Virtual. 

Key Responsibilities 
  • Plan, write and deliver regular on-brand event communications, event promotions and event results on the Virtual Club for the global community and private event clients. 
  • Support the delivery of client user journeys and communication campaigns, measuring impact and evaluating user engagement. 
  • Supply or update digital copy, content, and assets across the Virtual Club platform. 
  • Provide input into the monthly content plan and support with copywriting whilst maintaining a consistent tone of voice. 
  • Design and develop toolkits and collateral to support the development of the Virtual Club. 
  • Design creative graphics to promote Virtual Club events and to support ongoing content or event requirements. 
  • Collaborate with key external agencies for multi-lingual content and communications. 
  • Evaluate the impact of communications through both qualitative and quantitative techniques. 
  • Gather and analyse data on event participation, platform use, user experience or user feedback and report learnings on how to improve user retention. 
  • Liaise with third-parties for web and creative solutions. 
  • Day to day support and responses to user queries and troubleshooting errors. 
  • Support on new projects and features on the Virtual Club as required. 
Knowledge, Skills and Experience 
  • 2+ years’ experience involved in digital communications, ideally in the sports, activity or wellness sectors. 
  • Strong experience and understanding of using data to provide insight and support decision making. 
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proof-reading skills and/or qualifications. 
  • Previous experience of design software preferable. 
  • Experience using email marketing platforms such as Braze or Mailchimp. 
  • Excellent communication skills that can be deployed with team members, sponsors, suppliers, clients, participants and users. 
  • Outgoing, proactive and energetic with a can-do attitude. 
  • The ability to think laterally and problem-solve. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively on concurrent projects. 
  • Focussed, positive and calm under pressure with strong decision-making skills. 
  • Excellent customer service, including the ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and tact. 
  • Capacity to build an open, honest and trusting relationship with other team members. 
  • IT literacy essential (Word, Excel, PPT.) and has ability to use design software tools.

Basis, Salary & Benefits 

Permanent contract, full-time; Mon-Fri inclusive.

The role will be based in the London Office (Holborn) three days per week and remotely for the remaining two.
