Overview

NSE (National Student Esports) has grown rapidly since its inception in 2018 and is now the largest grassroots gaming community in the UK. Across everything, we take a student-first approach to ensure we always add value to the community. We elevate students’ university esports experience, helping them now and in their future careers. We use our knowledge to help academic institutions, games publishers, and sponsors support the student community.

The ever-growing university esports community is at the heart of NSE and it’s essential we recruit a passionate and dedicated Social Media and Community Manager to join our close-knit team. As well as general communications, the successful candidate will help manage the conversations and feedback on everything we do, proactively building bridges and trust within the community.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop NSE’s social, community, and content strategy
  • Day to day management of NSE’s social channels, execution of social strategy and occasionally, paid social media campaigns
  • Communicating daily with students and student leaders across the university landscape through a variety of mediums
  • Be the point of contact for esports and gaming societies across the country
  • Website management, such as publishing student and staff articles and uploading events
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of community events throughout the year
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of the British University Esports Championship Live Finals and other live events
  • Keeping the wider NSE team up to date with community developments
  • Working with the partnerships team to support proposals and ensure that partnership commitments are met
  • Line management of student interns throughout the year
  • Building and managing a scalable network of enthusiastic freelance content creators to keep NSE’s digital platform lively and up to date
  • Assisting in moderating occasional NSE Twitch broadcasts

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, this will most likely be in a professional capacity but if you have extensive volunteer experience with the required skills, we will be happy to assess your application
  • Excellent understanding of social platforms including Discord
  • Passion for esports and knowledge of the esports/gaming market, but previous experience in a professional esports role is not essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Adobe creative suite would be useful, but not essential
  • Self-motivated with the ability to proactively find solutions to problems
  • Eye for detail
  • Keen to learn new skills and put them into practice

NSE (National Student Esports) operates the British University Esports Championship powered by Intel, the official esports competition of British universities. In the 20/21 academic year the competition saw over 1,700 teams from 100 universities compete across a number of esports titles, with over 70% of participants enrolled on a STEM course.
